Vacationers Visiting Austin, TX

Vacationing in Austin is all about experiencing the local cuisine and culture, and what better way to do that than by taking a live cooking class with Chef Suz? Located in the historical Zilker Park District, less than a mile from Lady Bird Lake and our wonderful Barton Springs, and only 2 miles from downtown and Zilker Park where all of our large music festivals are held, our teaching kitchen is in the heart of the city.

One of the classes offered is a taco making class where you make your own homemade corn tortillas and learn how to make a delicious chili sauce that can be used as a street taco sauce, a pozole sauce for your soup, and an enchilada sauce all-in-one. Then you get to enjoy a fabulous chocolate avocado mousse (plant forward dessert) that’s so decadent, you’d never realize it was avocados.

Off-Site Live Cooking Class for Vacationers

For a more personalized experience, families and friends can schedule an on-location demonstration at their vacation rental. Chef Suz will customize a menu for the guest and their family, taking into account any food restrictions or allergies. This is a great way to fully enjoy all the amazing amenities of the vacation rental while having a memorable family and friends experience.

Scheduling:

If you have a group of over 6 people, please email Chef Suz at hello@chefsuz.com so she can better understand your timing, expectations, and food restrictions to prepare an environment for a memorable experience.

What about kids?

Families are welcome to take classes together and create a memorable experience while learning valuable skills. The spring break courses are especially popular for families. Chef Suz takes pride in inspiring kids towards a love of cooking and teaching them how to eat well.

Age recommendations for adding a knife skills class to a family experience:

Knife skills are an important part of cooking, but safety is also a priority. Chef Suz recommends children be at least 7 years old when starting to learn knife skills. It is important that children can hold and grip the knife with correct control to ensure their safety while slicing and dicing.
