Holiday Compote Recipe:
Ingredients:
12 oz fresh or frozen berries or cranberries
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup water
zest from one orange
1/4 -1/2 cup sugar
1 stick cinannom
1 star anise
1 clove
1 tsp. vanilla
pich of salt
Instructions:
Over high-medium heat combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan.
Bring the berry mixture to a boil and reduce to a simmer for approximately 20-30 minutes.
Stir occionally.
Allow the berry mixture to become thick.
Taste for sweetness. Add sugar if necessary. Enjoy with a charcuterie board, on a sandwhich or a side dish!
